Failure Behavior Attributed to Internal Erosion Caused by Conduit Cracks in Homogeneous Embankment

This study determines the effects of leakage attributed to conduit defects on failure behavior downstream slope a homogeneous reservoir. To analyze mechanism, model experiments and three-dimensional deformation–seepage analysis were conducted based shape, pore-water pressure, hydraulic gradient, settlement, results compared with changes in water storage capacity failed reservoir owing defects. The comparison showed that estimation settlement gauges is limited its ability detect rapid monitoring methods. An area potential internal erosion was formed at location 1.4–2.4 times height slope. findings this can provide insights for determining pre-reinforcement required prevent or minimize due fact leakage.
